EMANCIPATOR ~ 2010
24" x 30"  Acrylic on Canvas

Within our global slumber, we wander like lost dreamers within the dream. Yet our very freedom from this slumber lies within hands reach.

We all have the ability to live completely free... in harmony, peace and abundant love. A oneness of all things.

We are all one. Made up of the same organic language - but our separateness keeps us from hearing it, seeing it and living it.

There is a language older by far and deeper than words. It is the language of the earth, it is the language of our bodies, it is the language of dreams, and of action. It is the language of light.

Let us shine in light and love... liberated. ♥

THE DREAMER AND THE DREAM ~ 2010

“I dreamed I was a butterfly, flitting around in the sky; then I awoke. Now I wonder: Am I a man who dreamt of being a butterfly, or am I a butterfly dreaming that I am a man?”

 UNDAUNTED ~ 2010
12" x 16"  Acrylic on Canvas

I was having a little bit of a creative blockage and was chatting with a good friend of mine Tait, we both were feeling that way so I suggested we do a creative exchange. We agreed to each create a painting for the other on a similar sized canvas and send it off within the month.

This painting is what came forth within that month. This undaunted warrior womyn myself and us all, male and female. May we all pursue our dreams fearless and thriving.

Blessings and much love.
NAYA AT TWILIGHT ~ 2010
24" x 24"   Acrylic on Canvas

Motherhood is both a sacred and inspiring experience. We are said to choose our parents and children on a spiritual level. Our children come to teach us so much and remind us of all the beauty in the world we have come to see as normal. They renew our lives and self.

Inspired by all the new life, new mamas and helpers who bring in the new life such as midwives and nurses I painted two new works, this being the first of two.

The new mom relaxes as dusk surrounds her and the day light fades into night. She is calm, loving and at peace with herself. Her baby sleeps gently on her belly in the same state. Connected they enjoy the coolness of the air and sand.

The name NAYA means dreamer and she represents the eternal dreamer in all of us.
AURORA ~ 2010
24" x 24"   Acrylic on Canvas

Motherhood is both a sacred and inspiring experience. We are said to choose our parents and children on a spiritual level. Our children come to teach us so much and remind us of all the beauty in the world we have come to see as normal. They renew our lives and self.

Inspired by all the new life, new mamas and helpers who bring in the new life such as midwives and nurses I painted two new works, this being the first of two.

The new mom relaxes as the morning sun graces her skin, bees buzz around and a new day begins. She is calm, loving and at peace with herself. Her baby sleeps gently on her belly in the same state.

The name AURORA means Dawn or Goddess of the dawn, representing the female energy in us all. Bless and honor the goddess within.

IRREPRESSIBLE ~ 2010
12" x 24"   Acrylic on Canvas

In dreams feathers symbolize travel or the ability to move more freely in life. White feathers in dreams indicate innocence or a fresh start in a spiritual sense.

Feathers deal with ascension and spiritual evolution to a higher plane. Feathers were worn by Native American Chiefs to symbolize their communication with Spirit, and to express their celestial wisdom.

This painting represents the freedom that is our birthright.
When we surrender to the flow of life, we transform before our very eyes into so much more.

We are free.
PATIENCE BLOOMING ~ 2010
36" x 24"  Acrylic on Canvas

The lotus flower is one of the most ancient and deepest symbols of our planet.

Symbols are a means of bringing subtle, inner realities to a focus in outward expression. Within the fundamental unity of consciousness, certain symbols, such as the lotus lifting itself in purity above the muddy water, possess universal relevance and power.

Lotus flower is seen as a Symbol of spiritual unfolding.

LURRA'S PASSAGE ~ 2010
18" x 24"  Acrylic on canvas

Lurra is translated as earth which is the name of this organic green eyed woman. This painting is a representation of this transitional time in the earth's history where transformation is needed in order to continue on.

Like a butterfly coming into being everything is always changing and everything is also made up of the same energy. Seeing that unifying concept can allow us to welcome change and transformation.

Allowing ourselves and our ideas to break open, change can occur and newness comes into being. New ways of living and connecting with each other and most of all the earth ~ Our mother and provider of all things. Bless the earth.

"SERENITY" ~ 2009
24" x 36"  Acrylic on canvas

The word SERENITY means the state or quality of being serene, calm, or tranquil; sereneness.

This painting was created with that in mind. Soothing purple petals flow upward to the light full of life. The background consists of swirling vines, green areas representing foliage and open white areas allowing the light in.

This painting is both playful and calming, creates flow and creates stillness. Something for the body, mind and soul.

This painting was bought by the Malachite Midwiving Clinic in Kelowna, BC

"COURAGE" ~ 2009
18" x 36" Acrylic on Canvas

(DONATION: Kelowna Women's Shelter)
collaboration with Kim Buchanan

The original painting in this picture was created for the Kelowna Woman's Shelter. The logo for the shelter is a daisy which inspired the direction of the work.

The larger Daisy is to represent the Women who leave undesirable situations and seek help and a fresh start through the shelter. The small daisy represents the children of those women.

It takes courage to make hard choices in life, even ones that will better our life. In this painting the daisies grow out of pure rock against all the odds. In their courage to grow they are met with light and beautiful energy (colors) as the women are when they come to the shelter.

This painting was inspired by anyone who the courage to make changes happen and also to all the people and services like the Kelowna Women's Shelter that aid those people in change.

UNION
20" x 20" (3 parts)

The moon represents the power of dreams, they are the answers to questions we have not yet learned to ask. The celtic love knot represents the joining of your love as one and the stars and the magic of our dreams and hopes realized.
"timeless joy of the sun goddess" ~ 2009
18" x 24" Acrylic on canvas

It is not commonly known that the fluttering wings of the hummingbird move in the pattern of an infinity symbol - further solidifying their symbolism of eternity, continuity, and infinity.

By observing the Hummingbird, we see they are seemingly tireless. Always actively seeking the sweetest nectar, they remind us to forever seek out the good in life and the beauty in each day.

The Sun Goddess sits gracefully listening to the beauty of nature and soaking in the empowering and reviving energy of the sun. A hummingbird near by reminding her of the eternity, continuity, and infinity of life.

"celebration of the inner child" ~ 2009
18" x 24" Acrylic on Canvas

Inner child is a concept used in popular psychology and analytical psychology to denote the childlike aspect of a person's psyche. When we celebrate our own inner child we are free to love and enjoy life as children. In doing so we experience life and love with a sense of fullness, freedom and childlike wonder. This painting is an expression of this celebration.

"COUNTERBALANCE" ~ 2008
2' x 3.5' (2 panels)
Acrylic on canvas

This piece is my first abstract painting and sale. It was rather intimidating to begin but once that process happened, its was so blissful to stroke large quantities of paint onto the door skin surfaces to create what you see here.

The thing I love most about this diptych is to me it is an abstract ying-yang, the light/dark, masculine/feminine, etc...  a weight balancing another weight; an equal weight, power, or influence acting in opposition; counterpoise

I see myself doing a series of abstract pieces in the near future (-:
